Where's my lime and other twists

I was reading a story on a local kid who's headed to Villanove to play football and was curious if Nova had moved to 1A and found this  info which was new to me.  Bacardi Bowl

"Auburn (7-2-1). Villanova (7-2). Tropical Stadium. Havana, Cuba. New Year’s Day, 1937, the second...

WC Thoughts

Anybody following the World Cup? It's heavily promoted, and I've been watching some games. My take?

1. I can watch well-played soccer, and this is a good example of that.

2. I still think it's a silly game.

3. The loose clocking and calling are irritating. When Portugal ties the US with 10 seconds left, one wonders why the US didn't simply kick the ball downfield to its goalie and let him stand there with it for 10 seconds. After all, t...

Steele and Links

I received my Phil Steele College Football Preview magazine in the mail this week. First time getting a copy and I must say it is pretty amazing. The amount of detail for all 126 FBS teams plus the bigger newsworthy things is astounding. Only a few pages in but I have 8 weeks until kickoff!

WTF are FIFA and UEFA thinking? Do they want (as Lou Reed would say) "All the dead bodies piled up in mounds"?

B/c that's what they are going to get on March 22, 2013........ unless they wise up.

Mac was kind enough to forward a series of video clips to me b/c he remembered my series on FIERCEST CFB Rivalries.

This one is called Real Football Factories. And this episod...

B.C. Place

Last Saturday the newly renovated B.C. Place Stadium was unveiled after a $563 million face lift.

It was built in 1983 (28 years old) and was the world’s largest air-supported dome stadium until 2010 when it was deflated for renovations. It was also the stadium used for the 2010 Winter Olympics Opening and Closing ceremonies along with medal ceremonies.

Empty suits, soccer girls, etc

I'm watching the NFL & NBA lockouts and the politicos in DC and wondering are any of these folks earning their big paychecks. Yes, I realize that some of these issues are complex and can be emotional, but they ain't rocket science. Again, I needed to add DC to the opening sentence, but I'm not offering or soliciting political viewpoints.

The NBA is on a suicide mission. Both side better wake up quickly.

World Cup

Almost a great run by the US Womens Soccer team. Its just my opinion, but I'm thinking that the collars got a little tight after Japan scored that winning goal with less than 4 minutes to play. 1 for 4 on penalty kicks just does not get it done. Congrats to the Japaneese ladies for their epic win. Thing I liked the most was the complete lack of diving by either squad. The one thing that I am not looking forward to is the media telling us  how this soccer game helped heal a nation. Too ba...

C'mon girls, beat the Japanese... and...

.....and I ain't talking about the Jewish girls on Long island. USA women play Japan for the World Cup tomorrow. BTW, ESPN has gone overboard on hyping this. I guess no NFL leaves a news void.

O's need a new GM- the geritol kids, Vlad & DLee aren't the answer, and we the unpaid fans knew better than GM Andy McFail

NBA may need to contract- New Orleans Hornets are a prime target.
