Week 14: Stretch Run Starts

Posted by Radatz on December 6, 2017 at 10:50 PM Comments comments (5)

It's the time of year (perhaps especially this year) to throw a little weight on who's still playing for something and who's not. The Christmas run. Pretty good schedule. If the NFL can't recover its ratings now at least maybe it's time to think things over. Except when they do that they put on their pandering hats and make it worse. For his great work, Goodell is now with us for 5 more years. Sic semper erat...

And now some 'analysts', especially those of a cert...

nwo-1.5: nwo can pretty much eliminate talent laden atlanta from the playoffs with a win. the falcons just arent the same powerhouse offense while julio jones has a bad case of the dropsys, and their defense just isnt good enough to make up the slack. nwo will run, then pass, and then play good defense and sprecial teams to win a tight game 28-24

dal-5.5: desperation time for the cowboys at 6-6. they have to win to stay in it. eli is starting for the giants.will he rally the team to an ...

Week 13: Picture Develops and (Some) Order Returns

Posted by Radatz on December 4, 2017 at 12:15 AM Comments comments (9)

And just like that, this so far fairly forgettable season is 3/4 over. Five, maybe six divisions feature unpredicted leaders. The AFCW, once considered the strongest division in the AFC if not the NFL, has sunk into mediocrity with the one team not considered seriously having the momentum. Only in the AFCE and the AFCN does some degree of normalcy reign. A few familiar and heretofore stumbling forces, one in each conference, reared their ugly heads in a cry for normalcy too. Where...

Numbers 4 and 5 obviously didn't turn out the way I wanted, but I've written blogs every day this weekend with some kind of discussion.

lucky 13. throw caution to the winfd:

wash -.5:  dal won 33-19 in oct, but they put up 169 yds rushing. thats unlikely to happen again with zeke out. the cowboys arent the same team with dak and dez as they are with zeke and deke. kirk cousins is the better qb. take him. 28-17

min+3: freeman might be back, but julio remains on the in jured list with a bum ankle. if he was 100% the -3 is about right. minnesota has a 7 game win streak going too.

hous+7:  its just too...

Week 13: Bad Enough in a Normal Year

Posted by Radatz on November 28, 2017 at 10:10 PM Comments comments (9)

One tough week to pick coming up, even for this year. The usual plethora of extraneous reasons (like who's trying) persist, but will they ebb in some teams as crunch time approaches? Then we have injuries, which are piling up. But even in a season without the fangs of the DNC sunk into the sport, it's a tough week due to matchups alone.

[email protected]: Here's one mystery. Both teams are losers with little hope of a wildcard slot. But it's a rivalry. One team...

Week 12: Turkeys. Pumpkins. Some Gravy.

And that's Thanksgiving. Hope all had a good time. A lot of hopefuls didn't. Some front-runners didn't either. But amid a burgeoning flood of quitters there were some examples of teams actually playing above their heads for once. Granted, not many, but some.

MIN 30 DET 23: Stafford had to outplay Keenum. Didn't happen. Still, if not for some mistakes and the usual bad breaks the Lions may have won the game anyway. But that's the Lions. The NFCN is sea...
