The locals were commenting that Therrien and Claude aren't all that different. All I can figure is they wanted a shakeup but no real changes?

Just read that the Leafs were considering Shattenkirk. If he's any good the Bruins ought to be considering him judging from their defense, or what's left of it.

I thought MacLean was pretty impressive with Ottawa. But the canucks would probably run him out of town after a 2-game losing streak.

Then, again, they put up with Bowman :)

The Bruins have low expectations compared to the Canadiens I guess. In first place by six points and you fire your coach. BOS was only in a playoff spot.

I do find it humorous though that

"we're firing the coach that has us in 1st place and replacing him the recently fired coach of the 3rd place team, who we had fired over a decade ago".

Always glad to see these teams are concerned about the environment and recycle.

A couple of things

1. MTL has their bye week right now. No playing until 2/19.
2. They don't face BOS for the rest of the regular season.

I guess the Canadiens are winning the Cup. Last time Therrien was fired midseason Dan Bylsma took over and won the Cup with the Penguins

1-6 in their last 7, 6-12 in their last 18, clearly headed downhill. I suppose Montreal had to do something. If they're as good as they think they are, Claude might work. Funny though that the icing on the cake was losing 4-0 to the Bruins with Cassidy!

Boston's in the middle of an invisible rebuild with more and more kids showing up and looking good, plus more and more of the old core looking diminished. If Cassidy turns them into a real contender it's a bonanza for them. Claude's job is to turn a perceived all-star team into what it had better be. It could happen. Or not. If they keep flopping he won't last either. High expectations? In Montreal? Ya think?

i dont have high expectations for the habs. its pretty much the same team that hasnt won. i think weber is a bit of a downgrade on the ice, maybe an upgrade off ice, but he doesnt skate superwell, hes not a great passer.... throw shattenkirk into the mix and price will get alot better, the pp will start to roll.....and we'll see. i dont like either coach 1 little bit. i would have ridden this one out if i was mtl. patchoretty sucks as a captain

Does Patch speak French? That would be an issue I think.

Haven't checked lately, but couple years ago the Bruins were Frencher than the Habs!
