Let's get this over with fast. That always works better in the large. Just the basics. Boring common sense.
[email protected]: New England is at home. They have the better coach. They have the better QB. They have more experience. They have a better record. They probably have some missing pieces returning to boot. They're the champs. How do you bet against them?
[email protected]: Pitt has the better QB. Pitt is at home. Pitt has the experience. Jax...Read Full Post »

Pardon the late post, but yesterday was a busy day worthy of skipping out on (most of) the game broadcasts. You see, my son got married! And the date (Jan. 7) was also Mom's 100th birthday (hope she and Dad saw the wedding somehow), my Name Day, and Christmas on the old (Julian) calendar. Kinda cool. I did manage to check the radio or tv during a few lulls in the day's action and report back to my son (possibly the only other person in the place who was interested).

ATL 26 LAR 13:
The Rams got off to a fatally slow 13-0 start and couldn't manage more than a tie the rest of the way despite what seemed to be better opportunities than the Falcons got.
Gurley ran for 101 but was largely ineffective, most of his output coming on a couple of big runs. Watkins was useless. Woods was magnificent until the end when he wasn't. Goff looked like a kid with potential but was ineffective at the end, his receivers partia...Read Full Post »

TEN 22 KC 21:
It probably shouldn't have happened, but it did. The team most thought the biggest threat to NE or Pitt is gone. Of course, it took an early whistle on a Mariota fumble-six (forward progress???), a non-fumble-six and a non-fumble-two (maybe good calls ) and Mariota catching his own batted-down pass and running it in on a play that sure looked like he was past the line of scrimmage when he threw. Plus a concussion to Kelce late in the 1st half.Read Full Post »

just a few real time thoughts on todays action.
mariota blown up and fumbles. ruling is his "forward progress stopped therefore not a fumble", and titans received a fg. LMAFUCKINO. sad.
and then kelce fumbles on his concussion. no review no challenge no explanation no problem. nice

well, managed to borrow 20 bucks from my mom so its time to start digging out of this deep hole:
Ten+8.5: learned the hard way this year not to try and cover large sure thing favorite spreads, and also not to count on the chiefs. tennessee has been slugging it out pretty good of late, and the cold should hinder the chief's explosive offense. titans should be able to stay close. KC 24-17
Atl+6: its just too many points in a coin flip match. falcons match up well with the rams, and ...Read Full Post »

Just a fast junk blog here before a thought gets snowed under.
Remember a few years back when teams were losing guys because of a 'torn bicep'? Well, this year's injury-du-jour seems to be either "Achilles" or "calf". What's up? An Achilles rupture used to be the dreaded injury that happened to some pro athlete (or somebody you know) about once every decade. Now we see guys go down almost every week with that or a lesser variation. And "calf"? Patriots have had V...Read Full Post »

OH YEAH BABY, LOVIN IT!
Did Baker Mayfield Cry? Did he just get a krap load of karma shoved up his arrogant arse? Did a Georgia player yell at him "Humble Yourself" several times?
As Scurds would say, HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Coaching and other staff news will be a whirlpool for a while yet, but here are the early birds.
CIN: As predicted here, Marvin Lewis is proving as hard to hold to a retirement statement as Al Franken. He seems to be milking the victories over the Ravens and Lions to play the coy diva. These may be the costliest victories in Bengals history.
CLE: You just knew when Kizer somehow managed to throw for 300+ vs. Pittsburgh in a losing effort to Land...Read Full Post »
