70+ games into the season, we've just over a week to go before we hit the halfway mark. What do the divisions look like? Why? How? Got my opinions on the Red Sox, maybe you've got some on your guys. Or on anybody.
ALE: The surprising Yankees, despite a recent slump, still sit in first place --- by a percentage (as in per-mil) point. The underperforming Red Sox sit in second. But even the sagging O's and ever-disappointing Jays are within 6 games of the top, with ...Read Full Post »

In a strange offseason during which the Patriots ostensibly became stronger despite a phonygate-depleted draft, an unexpected shoe has dropped. It's not quite on the level of the Yankees announcing that the Kansas City Athletics had gifted them Bobby Shantz in 1956, but the parallels are pretty obvious.
David Harris, UM product and cornerstone of Rex Ryan's superb Jet defense of seasons past, is a 10-year veteran. Not at his peak, but not considered on a st...Read Full Post »

Here's something you don't read every day!
While the Warriors refuse to visit DC and yet another 'special counsel' with a vague agenda invades the place to clog it up more, this sort of headline stands out in the oddest way:

Here we go again...
Rumors. Everyone writing articles about Why We Lost. Blogs here on why we lost.
You know why we lost? Because we werent prepared! Because we looked like krap in two games and didnt show up. You cant dig a hole against Golden State. Because the Warriors honestly felt as if they were the better team last year and let the defeat fuel fire in their belly. The defense sucked. We finally did...Read Full Post »

It's a place that's the definition of self-entitlement. It's a place that enabled Colin Kaepernick. It's a place where "Free Speech" as championed by its major state university results in "safe spaces," aka censorship. And now it's a place where its NBA champions have voted not to visit the White House. It's really hard to root for these guys and their fan base.
Nevertheless, they're champs for the second time in 3 years. Before you start crowning dynasties, read...Read Full Post »

Admit it, you knew this was coming. For every faceoff win and all the time spent in possession of the puck, Nashville had seemingly two giveaways, largely dopey passes to zones, sometimes with wide open men in clear view. The Penguins almost invariably pounced on the unforced-loose-puck machine and eventually it paid off. Wouldn't you know that the winner would come from behind the goalie, but it's been happening a lot. Pittsburgh deserved it. They played smarter, rarely tossing p...Read Full Post »

NOT IN OUR HOUSE BABY!
You can Kick Your Feet Up (a/la Steph), you can brag that you want to taste the champagne again in Cleveland, you can tweet about 16-0,
NOT IN OUR HOUSE BABY! TAKE THAT CHAMPAGNE and stick it where da sun dont shine! Take that mouthpiece and shove it up your arse! Mr. Rose, take that broo...Read Full Post »

The good news for Nashville is that any dreaded complacency is cured. Now they may need antidepressants. In retrospect it's hard to believe the first period ended with 9 shots apiece, let alone the game ending with 24 each. But there was no doubt who was swarming and who wasn't, as Pittsburgh's strong checking and transition game produced big gains.
That's one way of looking at it. The other is that to beat Pitt you have to expect to weather offensive storms. The...Read Full Post »
