Today’s Big Games
Anyway, I did want to talk a little bit about the games that will be played. As I mentioned above, the conference games are the most important, and there is an SEC game between residents of the two “Columbias” (South Carolina and Missouri). I decided that instea...Read Full Post »

I was getting really sick and tired of hearing how the Buckeyes supposedly "disrespected" OK last year when we sang our alma mater song "Carmen Ohio" after last year's win. First, I believe the Buckeyes sing that song after every game, (or at least every win, but I think its every game). Its been a tradition for awhile. Secondly, I dont think it was meant to shove a win down the Sooners' throats either. I dont recall any big time bravado (ie. we won we w...Read Full Post »

kc is very good. thats an explosive offense with multiple play making supestars on it.is the pat defense this bad? atlanta lit em up too. no pass rush. niether team. when is the last time u saw brady with 10 seconds to not find somebody. or toss up a luck chuck. alex smith was firing darts, and looks alot like a big game qb sorounded by weapons at every position.
ne played very strangely. they didnt stick with stuff that was woking, like running. the chiefs sucked them into a...Read Full Post »

we're back. and as usual time isat a premium:
kc+10 chiefs should be top 3 afc team this year. ne hasn't played a winning opponent since the superbowl, and we saw how that went. 10 pts? take them
car-6: kelvin benjamin is back and healthy. the 9ers are pretty bad.
jets+10: 10 pts is too many against a team with only 1 player, leshaun mcoy. bills have no qb and got rid of all of their receivers as part of their plan to take the load off mcoy.
philly-1: too much up...Read Full Post »

Somehow it's week one already. Amazing. Won't be long before it's week 17. Gee, I remember 1967. The NFL was a bunch of tough guys who played hurt and were glad to get paid for playing a game. Wotta difference 50 years makes, huh? Let's try to enjoy it anyway.
With recent league rules making preparation almost impossible, we can probably expect September to be extended training camp in most locales. That's always the story of week 1 anyway, but it's worse now.Read Full Post »

I was in a hurry for last week’s rankings, so the numbers in parentheses refer to last year’s final ranking. The numbers in the middle for the top 25 are last week’s rating. Reasoning below.
1 Alabama 1 (2)
2 Ohio St. 2 (3)
3 Oklahoma 4 (5)
4 Penn St. 5 (8 )
5 Clemson 6 (1)
6 Wisconsin 7 (7)
7 Stanford 8 (14)
8 Okla St. 9 (13)
9 Michigan (11)
10 Florida St. 3 (6)
11 Washington 10 (4)
12...Read Full Post »

Strange times in the SEC, but I suppose it’s not too unusual that LSU and Alabama look good in the early going.
I’m still getting used to the absence of people like Les Miles, Steve Spurrier, and Mark Richt.
Less significantly, Hugh Freeze is gone now too. Based on recent developments, Kevin Sumlin may be on his way out as well. It’s a tough job and you expect turnover, but it’s getting to the point where you can barely get used to people.Read Full Post »

If you're ever forget the cost of freedom, visit a museum. I've been running a cousins NFL FF league for a few years and we hold the draft at one cousins' home in Hampton,VA. Some of us have used the day after to explore the nearby area's deep history. The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, Va is a solid museum.
