Return of El Ka-Bong

The good news for Nashville is that any dreaded complacency is cured. Now they may need antidepressants. In retrospect it's hard to believe the first period ended with 9 shots apiece, let alone the game ending with 24 each. But there was no doubt who was swarming and who wasn't, as Pittsburgh's strong checking and transition game produced big gains.

That's one way of looking at it. The other is that to beat Pitt you have to expect to weather offensive storms. The...

NOT THE BEST!

Okay, here we go!

Kevin Durant is THEE best.  He's the best we've seen.  The Torch is being passed.

BS!  BS!  BS!

Kevin Durant is NOT better than Lebron James.  Kevin Durant HAS NOT WON multiple championships with TWO different teams, been the Finals  or Season MVP multiple times, nor put up the stats that Lebron has.  NOR has he shouldered the same burden, in bringing a Championship to a City/Re...

Tied Series and the Strangest Goal I Ever Saw

Posted by Radatz on June 6, 2017 at 12:05 AM Comments comments (4)

Usually replay, for what good it does, also does a couple of bad things that make people not like it. First, it interrupts the game, sometimes for what seems too long. Second, it sometimes turns over goals on ridiculously unnoticeable offsides. But tonight's replay was in the background until a horn sounded stopping play some time later. Was it too long later? Yes. But it did reveal a goal where none had been called. Someone somewhere must have decided to look on his own since it ...

Tired of Hearing It!

Posted by JDIN827 on June 4, 2017 at 11:25 AM Comments comments (5)

For the past few days, (and during the season), all we have heard about is the THEE Golden State Warriors and how they would win another NBA Crown because of the Durant addition.  We've also heard that the Cavs are toast and done since they flopped in Game 1.

Tired of hearing it!  Know what else I am tired of hearing?  Had Green played Game 5, the Warriors would have repeated last year!  But then no one follows that up by Had Kyrie and Kevin Love play...

Reversal of Form?

Posted by Radatz on June 3, 2017 at 11:55 PM Comments comments (3)

It started off looking like a long night and a short series as Pittsburgh scored in the first 3 minutes shortly after a Rinne giveaway, and holding the lead through the first period without too much concern. The second was looking like more of the same when Josi scored on what had been a somewhat disorganized power play. Big deal. But then Gadreau put home a shot that Murray seemed to whiff on 42 seconds later. It was hard to tell whether it deflected off the arm of a defender sli...

Current NFL Rankings: the Top 8

Posted by Radatz on June 2, 2017 at 2:00 PM Comments comments (6)

Of course 100 things can happen with any team between now and September, but the odds for LII, aka the leaguewide team rankings, have been getting crunched regularly. About the only thing anyone can agree on is who's #1. Maybe even #2. But there's plenty of room for debate. Using the odds posted on May 23 by the 4-letter network as a basis, let's discuss the teams that rank at 20-1 or better.

1. New England (3-1): Why not? They're the champs, and they're generall...

Shell Shock

Posted by Radatz on May 31, 2017 at 11:20 PM Comments comments (4)

The first period was something of a disaster, lots of skating and good pressure by Nashville but a slew of bad calls and noncalls, one of which gifted Nashville an evener-upper 5 on 3 that was futile. Then Guentzel scored 4 seconds after a shaky call on Josi expired, effectively still on the power play. Rinne was still a rebound machine and looked shaky. The tying goal was bad, a soft rebound chip from a couple of feet into a covered corner in which Rinne left a hole that the puck...

The Supreme Flamer....

Posted by Ark_Razor on May 31, 2017 at 11:10 PM Comments comments (0)

OK. I have seen the future and it is relentless taunting.

Urinating Tree is on youtube and he does "lolcow" on just about every sports team imaginable. This is r-rated stuff and bayonets the wounded while killing the children.

NHL- You name the team, he's got a torch video for them- including the playoffs.

NBA- If you ain't the Warriors or the Cavs, you are going down.

NFL- Of course the Stains reign supreme, Debtors, Bleats, 9-holes, Loins, and more..... there i...

Bizarre Finals Opener

Posted by Radatz on May 29, 2017 at 11:25 PM Comments comments (7)

I hate finals. The pregame crap is impossible. The schedule is inanely stretched out. When will the NHL figure out that the games are what people long for, not ceremonial phoniness. And with that for a preamble, off we go into maybe the first Cup final coached by two guys from Massachusetts. Outside of Franklin and Marshfield, no one here cares anyway.

The first period didn't do the NHL any more good than the pregame fluff. Nashville looked good early, good enoug...

Playoff Intermission Fun: 4 Greatest Defensemen

Posted by Radatz on May 28, 2017 at 11:50 PM Comments comments (7)

It's not easy to pick from the lot of great defensemen that have graced the NHL for so long, and harder still to mix eras. But we're going to do it anyway. And here they are, ranked. It's clear who the pairings are (even though they may not have been the best 'pairings'; that's impossible to tell). The Boston Bruins own this setup, even with Ray Bourque and Zdeno Chara not particularly in the conversation. It's amazing to think that names like Tim Horton, Pierre Pilot, Brad Park, ...
