So I presume this was pre-weekend? What's post? Do you have Alabama at 4?

You presume wrong. There is no formula I know of that agrees with my subjective feelings 100% of the time. I might look at something in the offseason, but I'm not going to overhaul the whole system in December because the team I think belongs in the playoff isn't #4. I explained how and why I would vote as a member of the committee in the second and third links.

I tried to make a formula that at least had Oklahoma and Alabama 4th and 5th after Wisconsin, but then when I applied it to this time last year, Texas A&M ended up ahead of Washington. That's much worse than this.

Update: I think I did figure out a reasonable way to give extra weight for quality wins, which would cause Wisconsin and UCF to fall lower, but I'll discuss that in my next blog.
