C'mon girls, beat the Japanese... and...

Posted by vapor5 on July 16, 2011 at 8:15 AM

.....and I ain't talking about the Jewish girls on Long island. USA women play Japan for the World Cup tomorrow. BTW, ESPN has gone overboard on hyping this. I guess no NFL leaves a news void.

O's need a new GM- the geritol kids, Vlad & DLee aren't the answer, and we the unpaid fans knew better than GM Andy McFail

NBA may need to contract- New Orleans Hornets are a prime target.

I hope my buddy galf has shaken Wings GM Holland out of his stupor.

Nice, cool morning here in the Bmore area.

Knowing how Asians feel about losing anything ( particularly to Westerners) I'd have to say the pressure is on Japan . I'm not racist....I've just been spending a lot of time with Amy Chua's 'Tiger Mother..' book .

jane- Various media outlets have been emphasizing thisa as something for the Japanese to revel in since the natural disasters and nuclear "seep-outs".

I taught public middle school and high school Algebra, and I can attest that many Asian Americans are "goal oriented".

The USA goalie, Hope Solo, is great.

When the Hornets kerfuffle started last season Vancouverites were all over it trying to get a team again.

Nice 'McFail' reference

Soccer is a wash, just want an exciting game like the US-Mexico Gold Cup game

Tough day here Vap, galf, pool, thinking about dinner on the lake somewhere. If I run into Ken, I promise to slap him to his senses.

Big Apple on Monday....gonna figure out a way back to timore one of these days. Get out and enjoy that weather Vap!!!

Nawlins, my favorite party town (devil was born in Nawlins but he vacations in Vegas....another good time city). That's as nice as I can be in an NBA discussion.

mac- Do you think the Grizzlies previous tenure will hurt Vancouver's NBA hopes?

galf- I walked a few miles in the morning then went to my uncle/godfather's 80th BDay party. Fun day. BTW, my uncle told he still walks 4 miles a day.

LOL on the pre-game hype. You'd think this is 1980 again and the country is in an identity crisis. Oh wait, we are.

Japan will win. They have high motivation also since many of them glow in the dark at night.

It wasn't the fans fault for leaving. Attendance was better in Vancouver then Memphis and Memphis has now 5 years of playoff basketball.

The owner went behind everyones back with the comissioner and took them in the middle of the night like the Colts. It was either Toronto or Vancouver due to the dollar leaving and Toronto had Carter and a bigger market. Vancouver can survive now

mac- And the Baltimore Bullets owner, Abe Pollin, moved them to the DC area in a sneaky way so I can feel Vancouver's "pain:. I liked Vancouver having an NBA team

ark- I think our gals are motivated. , but this could be a dull game

galf- I got the "walking" part of golf solved.

Was a great final until the shootout oddly enough. Never seen so many saves/misses. Good game as a whole though.

Sorry Vap thought they had it with the extra goal by Wambach

Tough shootout loss for the USA. Some ugly defensive collapses hurt our girls. Congrats to Japan!
