And Another One

Posted by JDIN827 on August 15, 2011 at 7:00 PM

Miami is now being investigated by the NCAA, as players reportedly received gifts and money.  I read in last Thursday's USA Today that Boise State's Athletic Director was fired due to violations incurred by the school.  Miami and Boise can now join USC, UNC, Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee,Texas Tech, WVU, Michigan, Georgia Tech, Oregon and a host of other schools.

Why wasnt there the disdain and bashing that Ohio State experienced?  Where are all the blogs talking about cheating and liars?  Where are all the holier than thou How Dare They's?

Just Askin.

Because alot of fans think we are the most arrogant (and a host of other names) fanbases in the entire world.  And that's BS!

I agree , JD.
I'm guessing ESPN won't be sending a subpoena to Miami for all their correspondence, etc..

Regardless, I'm sad about what happened with the Buckeyes. They should have all been smarter. This is what college football is all about these days.

USC took their share.

They were the first ones out of the bunch. Everything was against them when in the end the school had nothing to do with it. Than more and more came out which were/are worse (include the school) and it has lessened but still being bashed. U$C, University of Spoiled Children, University of South Central and on and on it goes.

No its not and your blog proves it. Who do you guys think you are, Dodger fans?

The reason that OSU has been blasted is in large part b/c of the arrogant attitude of a significant number of the fan base. Miami BTW was the whipping boy in the 90's.

There is also the issue that OSU has "prided" itself on running a clean program. You don't hear that kind of crap in the SEC- at least they are bit more honest about "just win". You never heard any of that clean program regarding Miami even when they were winning.

Just take your lumps, which will be few b/c you won't get hit with lack of institutional control, and move on instead of whining about a double standard.

In the meantime, Colt did play well the other night, and the Browns may have their QB.

If EVER there was anyone with a chip on the shoulder, a bone or a bug up the arse about Ohio State it would be you. Your last comments about other schools "pride" and the SEC being clean is just laughable. Heck, SEC coaches couldnt WAIT to leak the stuff about Cam's dad.

You'll never see the forest from the trees because you are anti OSU. I ask you WHERE ARE THE BLOGS that decry "Foul", "Liar", "Cheaters" and the ESPN subpoena to these other schools?

Whining my Arse Dear Ark.

Here's my take on Miami. Really? What the hell took the NCAA so long?

It might sound cheap JDIN but does it surprise you coming outof Miami? Have you ever thought they were running a clean program? I haven't.

USC, Bama, UM, OSU, etc......those are schools I expect to live up to higher standards (and I suspect most college football fans would agree). Feel proud that your school is amongst them and is expected to perform at a higher level. Then don't settle for less (don't lower your standard). My two cents.

I never thought about what the perception of OSU is/ was throughout the rest of college football. But it is interesting that you all but admit that cheating is part and parcel of the SEC. I'm not sure that one is any more noble than the other.

BTW, sorry about Knile Davis. I confess I've become skeptical of these very first play from scrimmage injuries after what happened with the Browns and LeCharles Bentley. ( rumor was he actually messed himself up the night before playing pickup basketball).

one day they will break a story,"big time college athletic program wins game on the up and up. " til then I assume every last program is cheating. when the waterloo warriors get caught using and selling roids, the corruption be compleat.
jdin: I can't explain why, but i have this feeling about miami that it is "blacker" than ohio state, and i think that folks assumed that the whiteness of ohio somehow kept it clean. hence the dissapointment when osu got caught. yeah, i expect folks will carve that theory up, but as i said, it's a feeling, a perception i have, and so9metimes perception is reality.

I was just going to troll until I saw this.

JD, as you know I have nothing but love for the Buckeyes since my visit to Columbus in 2005.And I also think their self-employed sanctions are more than adequate to redress any infractions.

And I agree that both USC and Ohio State recieved an inordinate amount of bashing and coverage. Why?

Because they are USC and Ohio State! They are teams that play in BCS bowls, finish in the Top 10 and play for titles.People are interested in what happens to them. When you are on the top of the heap, it seems to be human nature for those below you to want to pull you down.

I don't care enough about Boise or Miami to blog or comment about them. But in the world of college football, USC and tOSU are important. Hence the double standard.

As someone who has transgressed on many occassions throughout my life, I have to agree with Ark - you just take your lumps, suffer your consequences and thank God it wasn't worse.

As for the Buckeyes being the most arrogant program in CFB, you may be in the Top 5, but my alma mater is currently holding down the top spot in that category, despite a 5-7 record.

Good to see again, and you are welcome for Colt McCoy.

Actually, that is a pretty valid theory, IMO.

Like I said JD. The fact that you are so sensitive about it proves my point.

I don't have a list of your blogs, but I never recall you having a blog where the focus was giving props to another school- especially Michigan.

For the record, there are classy Buckeye fans out there- gymrome, Buckspa, and f-j. You are one of the whiners.

I make the same offer I've made before: Tell me on this blog to quit commenting on your blogs and I will. It is your blog, your house. I am a guest. If you want me to leave, tell me on this public forum.

As I've made this offer to you twice before and you have remained silent, I'm assuming I'm welcome to come here and act this way.

f-j: Indeed, the SEC understands that cheating is part of the landscape and that there is no honor among thieves. The SWC understood this also, but that caused the demise of their conference. Like I've said, nothing satisfies like an on-field win. To me, I would think that the price and ridicule Ohio St. has paid is well worth the bounty that the Vest brought. Wouldn't you rather face this forum than the humiliation of losing to a rival, not getting a NC and not winning conference championships and/or going to BCS games?

I'm not a USC fan or a non-fan, but in L.A. the USC alum in this neck of the woods generally are of the feeling "it was a glorious run, nobody can take that away from us; and it is a standard to which we will return."

I'll let people draw their own conclusion. The positions have been clearly laid out by each of us. What I don't understand is why you would allow such a (so-called) classless act in your blogging house. I'm fascinated by it.

I think you secretly enjoy this te-te ah te-te. Remember, just say the word on your blog and I'm gone.

In the meantime, continue to look for me to give props and to critique as I sense you enjoy them both.

Ark,

You're kidding right? I like your comments? I like the back and forth?

I had hoped you would get it. As I have stated, I think what I think about you, I do not read your blog and I wish you would stay away.
