AFC west

ok so this is one difficult division. this might be the best division top to bottom in football this year.

the broncos have a new coach and a high draft pick qb to push trevor simian. the elite defense is intact in spite of demarcusware loss and upgrades have been made to the oline. but, 3 head coaches in 4 years, and unproven qbs pave an uphill road for the mile high sity. simian was pretty good. but they r going to have to get alot out of a fragile rb group featuring cj anderson, and jamaal charles for at least a few quarters.sanders and thomas are good wrs, but the oline is unsettled. qb uncertainty and a patchy oline playing for an upheaved coaching staff -wade phillips to stoke a great defense,+the toughest sched in the league puts this pretty good team in last place.

kansas city returns with excellent defense, and alex smith at qb. backup foles is gone. there is no depth. charles is gone. knile davis is gone. spencer ware and chickendick west have been productive and both return. cj spiller and a draft pick round out the position. they will be ok on the ground. good oline. kelce and tyreek hill provide the recieving with maclin in limbo. this is a solid team, but they rarely make big playsand held pittsburgh without a td last year but still lost. strong contender that hasnt improved. we will look for them to slip just a little thisseason.

san diego clearly has the best qb in the division. they've got a real good young rb in gordon, keenan allen is back and so is enriquez gates at te. hunter henry is ready to take over for gates again if needed, and mike williams looks like he could be a star wr in the making. rivers has a lightning fast release and is as accurate and wiley as ever. 176 consecutivestarts. russelokung bolstersca fine oline. on defense they will play 4-3/ afc droy bosa had 10.5 sacks in just 12 games. melvin ingram is a fine compliment to him on a good line. unspectacular lbs. a good secondary featuring casey howard who led the league in ints. the move to la wont phase chill phil, and he will lead a well rounded charger team to contention.

oakland is moving to vegas. by then, they should be the elite powerhouse they almost r now. the offense has the look of a juggernaut. carr is back, and his team is loaded. crabtree, amari cooper, get corduroy patterson and no less an addition then jared cook from green bay for depth a trio of solid backs with a healthy and rejuvied marshawn lynch, deandre washington and jalen richard performing in the no6 rushing attack behind perhaps the best oline in the league. this is a great offensive team. but they r not a good defense in spite of khalil mack and a player named jihad. and they have a brutal sched. they should win the division.

magloin still there. i think its kinda good they flamed out so bad without carr. they should be able to use that experience to evaluate some weaknesses. i have to wonder how much of that collapse was mental. in other words they may have learned a few things from it all. foremost being....they suck when carr isnt in.

If Carr can stay healthy, I can see them playing in February. Debtors will not like playing the entire season on the road with half the games in front of 30,000 fans split 50/50. Last place for them. Let the Chefs and Mares duke it out for the Wild Card.

Radars 12-4, Chefs 10-6, Mares 10-6, Debtors 5-11. If they were in SD, I'd say they'd be 8-8.

When Carr went down, the defense got demoralized. They said it. Tells me something right there. Don't know what though.

Lynch will have the whole team stoned in 5 minutes. Raiders got a lot to show me after the post-Carr belly flop last year. No great team gives up like that.

KC worse than last year, maybe a little, maybe a lot. SD going lovably nowhere as usual, Chargers are too vulnerable to attrition. Denver doing disgustingly better than predicted.

One caveat on Denver: Vance Joseph. If he turns out to be the next Todd Bowles, Denver may be in for a rude season. Star HS quarterback, college offensive nothingback and pro defensive nothingback who's been coaching DBs mostly since? Miami's DC last year. Head coach? Denver needed a Wade replacement and made him the HC?

Having looked at this, I'm inclined to see scurds' point. Lessee, they hired the new HC from SD and made him OC, hired the new DC from MIA and made him HC, and filled DC with a promo. Why does this look a shade 'uncoordinated'?

somebody here has to finish last here. its not going to be an improved bye team from last year. i'm putting the team with the worst qb and weird coaching situation at the bottom.
