The Giants need an offensive line. The Cowboys and Skins need new ownership.

The Eagles need Desean Jackson to report, and maybe some help at linebacker. Other than that, Vick's by far the oldest component of an offense including McCoy, Jackson, Maclin, Celek, Avant... all in their early-to-mid 20s.

My guess is, the Eagles being loaded on both sides of the ball, there's never been a better chance for them, despite showing up small in big games over the last decade and other five-year spans years ago, for them to elevate the disappointment of their fans (seriously, an All-Pro quarterback who pukes during a two-minute drill with the Super Bowl on the line) from above average to competition for the all-time worst.

I hope not.

The Eagles are lining up a defense designed to pressure the quarterback with new defensive ends and a no-name group of linebackers. Three All-Pros in the secondary would frustrate the hell out of opposing quarterbacks, running backs, and receiving corps.

Eagles just signed Ronnie Brown to a one year deal.

idoj- Philly may try to re-structure Asante's contract if they don't trade him.

Guaranteed, next year their roster's gonna be a lot different. They're apparently close to the cap, so they might as well pay Samuel if he wants more money.

One disadvantage, I guess, of having a core group of young impact players is, they have all the leverage for when their big paydays come up.

It's really not like the Eagles to bring in this much outside talent... it's really not like any team, except maybe the Redskins with Deion, Bruce Smith, etcetera, in whatever year that was. The players the Eagles brought in are younger than that. Hopefully, chemistry won't be a problem by the time the playoffs roll around.

That's probably what they're thinking, get it together in the second half of the season -- Reid's W-L splits are probably considerably better in the second half over his tenure -- and keep everyone healthy, win the division, if not home field throughout.

They threw a lot of money around this year. They expect to win, and they'd probably better.

If you look at the box score for their playoff game against Green Bay, they won the game from the second quarter on.

They're always good for that -- spotting a good team a couple of touchdowns before they do anything. It won't matter what their record is, where they're playing, who's injured, if they get to the playoffs and do that again.

Brown only has ~1,100 carries in his career. He should have a lot left in the tank.

Also, he was the key component in Miami's wildcat sets. With Vick and Young, the Eagles will probably use it.

-a version of something similar, but they aren't a wild card team unless meshawn jaxson stays out for the season.  a good pickup no less.  eagles will be a force.

idoj- Eagles looked sharper than the Ravens last night but its's early.

Is Henery replacing Akers as the kicker?

Tyrod Taylor looked bad  @QB for the Ravens.

Akers is gone. Reid blamed the playoff loss last year on him, and they didn't re-sign him.

Vick's been serious about getting in shape and mastering the offense. With the veterans they have, it shouldn't be a problem for that kind of motivation to create the same in younger players. That's also their best bet for creating chemistry.

I'm particularly hoping Jackson doesn't let his contract situation distract the team.

An article I read yesterday suggested the Eagles shouldn't go out of their way to give him a big contract because he doesn't catch a great percentage of balls targetted to him. What the article didn't mention is his effect on opposing defenses, who have to account for Vick in the backfield and him downfield.

Kafka looked good. I think he was 7/8 at one point.

It doesn't seem to matter who the Ravens have on offense. They end up being a defense-first team every year.

don't underestimate the effect jackson has by being on the field.  he is worth every penny and more in that offence.

What really has me worried is Rex Grossman, who said this past week that he expects the Skins to win the division.

Grossman, he went to a Super Bowl, you know. He carried a great defense all the way to defeat in a really boring February classic.

Agreed and they'll need to give Flacco  no doze before every game. The dude rarely starts off a game well.
