Do They Have It?

Posted by Galfur on January 12, 2018 at 12:50 AM

Does anyone here follow the NHL? How good is Tampa this year and do they have (barring injury) the right kind of team to withstand the brutality of the Cup playoffs and bring it home?

Man they look like a powerhouse team to me. If the games aren't called differently in the playoffs (ie., let them skate and enforce clutching/grabbing/interference) the Bolts are really explosive with a goalie who can also win a couple on his own.

And what about the expansion magic taking place in Sin City. What on earth is going on and who the heck saw THAT coming?

Scoring can come from any direction, any line. They are packed.

Sorry about the Wings old friend. I guess they have a moment or two of promise in between the vast abyss of nothingness.

vegas is a great story. good for the league and the game. but i have a feeling they got an unfairly sweet deal from the league to kick start them, and i would like to shake that. regardless, there is nothing easy about winning consistently in this league. taking fleury first was a sharp sharp move

LV having a good team on day 1 is the result of a rigged expansion draft and another factor you could see coming from a mile away.

Tampa is very good. Washington still has the best team. Boston is unknown. They could either slip back into a rebuild or keep improving and go deep.

I guess I wasn't paying attention to how the league enabled Vegas to draft their roster. Not sure if they changed the rules in some way (over previous expansion team drafts) or not. But they are a story in and of themselves.

Bolts, wow just wow.

Rad, yeah. Washington has the talent year in and year out. But we all know what happens to them in the playoffs. That's kind of why I asked the question of the Bolts.

Cup playoffs are always so much more physical. And having to stand up to that (give and take) for the full duration requires a depth (four lines) and grit/toughness throughout.

Seems to me the NHL has cut down on obstruction and if they continue that in the playoffs, it bodes well for a free skating team like the Bolts.

Bruins are a good match for them so far. Their kids can skate with them. Problem is Dr Rask and Mr. Hyde. They need to get Khudobin the right amount of work to keep him warm. I could see them going for another defenseman in case Chara fossilizes.
